About Cairns Counselling ...

Management Team & Support Group

We have a Management Team of professional people from many walks of life under the chairmanship of Rev Kenneth L Petrie.

We also have a support group called The Friends of Cairns, headed by Mrs Ruth Sturgeon. The Friends of Cairns organise fundraising events in support of the work of Cairns, and offer practical support to the service as required.

We have three salaried staff:

Altogether we have 20 counsellors who each provide between two and six counselling sessions per week.

We are fortunate to have the help of Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Peter Olley, who offers back-up support to the counselling team where there is a need for a psychiatric assessment, for example, when someone is severely depressed.

We welcome anyone in emotional distress or need, regardless of race, gender, beliefs, age or sexual orientation.

We are here to help you.
