Digital marketing is really very similar to internet marketing, here is what

Internet, the field of digital marketing includes a whole host of elements such as mobile phones,
sms/mms, display/banner ads and digital outdoors".

So, digital media usually refers to any content, advertising and messages that are created and
displayed using computer, mobile, digital audio and video technologies.
It also includes channels such as computer games, communication (email) & social interaction
(Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn for example).
Add to that autoresponder systems to answer incoming email queries automatically even when you
are sleeping, online brochures, email marketing systems to broadcast email messages to groups of
people for little effort and money.
Anything really that we can turn into digital content, share, and use to promote your brand,
company, products or services.
